Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series: Race-Focused Performance, Comfort, and Aerodynamic Efficiency
LAMEDA has always been committed to delivering a more comfortable, performance-focused cycling experience for riders at every level—from those taking their first ride to professional athletes competing at the highest level.
Through ongoing conversations with professional athletes and experienced cyclists, we have developed a deeper understanding of what apparel must deliver during racing and high-intensity training. We have also seen growing demand for a one-piece cycling suit that combines professional performance with a clean, distinctive aesthetic.
This insight led to the development of the Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series—a race-oriented one-piece cycling system built around aerodynamic efficiency, anatomical support, functional fabric zoning, and comfort in the riding position.
Performance no longer has to come at the expense of style. Every ride can express speed, confidence, and individuality.
Performance First: Reduce Drag and Turn More Power into Forward Motion
In competitive cycling, apparel should do more than provide comfort. It should also reduce unnecessary aerodynamic drag wherever possible.
Compared with a traditional jersey-and-bib-shorts combination, a skinsuit integrates the upper and lower sections into a single garment, creating a more continuous outer surface. This reduces wrinkling, fabric movement, and excess material around the waist, allowing the garment to follow the rider’s body more closely and maintain a cleaner aerodynamic profile.
Every aspect of the Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series—from fabric selection and pattern engineering to functional details—has been developed around the demands of fast riding.
Based on rider feedback, under certain riding conditions, a close-fitting skinsuit may reduce power loss by approximately 5–10 watts compared with less aerodynamic apparel. Actual results may vary depending on speed, riding position, body shape, environmental conditions, and individual fit.
For riders focused on speed, training efficiency, and sustained power output, a stable, close-fitting skinsuit helps reduce distractions and allows greater focus on cadence, rhythm, and the road ahead.
Gender-Specific Chamois: Ergonomic Support for Male and Female Riders
During long-distance riding, the cycling pad is one of the most important factors affecting comfort and pressure management.
Because male and female riders differ in pelvic anatomy, sit-bone position, and pressure distribution, the Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series uses gender-specific chamois designs developed according to ergonomic and anatomical principles.
The cushioning and support zones are positioned differently for male and female riders, allowing each pad to align more accurately with the body’s primary contact and load-bearing areas.
Multi-Layer Construction for Balanced Cushioning and Support
The chamois uses a multi-layer construction composed of a comfort layer, a functional surface fabric, and high-density pressure-relief inserts.
The comfort layer has an approximate density of 65 kg/m³, a pressure specification of approximately 20 kPa, and a thickness of approximately 3 mm. It is designed to provide soft, next-to-skin cushioning and improve initial contact comfort.
The high-density support inserts have an approximate density of 120 kg/m³, a pressure specification of approximately 30 kPa, and a thickness of approximately 14 mm. These inserts are positioned in the main load-bearing zones to provide more stable support during long rides.
The chamois surface fabric is composed of approximately:
- 77% polyamide
- 21% elastane
- 2% carbon fiber
This combination balances softness, stretch, moisture management, and durability.
Soft Against the Skin with Efficient Moisture Management
The chamois surface uses MICRO SENSE-grade polyamide yarn combined with LUANA carbon fiber to create a soft, refined surface while promoting faster moisture transfer.
The internal structure also maintains a degree of airflow, helping reduce heat and moisture buildup during prolonged riding and improving the pad’s overall dry-touch performance.
Three-Dimensional Cutting for Smoother Pressure Transitions
The high-density support zones use ISO CUTTING three-dimensional shaping technology to reduce the rigid transitions commonly found in conventional thermoformed foam structures.
This creates smoother transitions between areas of different thicknesses and densities, helping reduce hard edges and localized pressure.
The contoured surface also reduces continuous flat contact between the skin and the pad, helping limit heat buildup and friction during long rides.
The upper foam layer uses DURA SENSE polyester material with high extensibility, allowing the pad to adapt more naturally to body movement. This improves multidirectional stretch and creates a more dynamic fit while riding.
Functional Fabric Zoning: Different Materials for Different Areas of the Body
Different areas of the body place different demands on a cycling skinsuit.
The chest and back require abrasion resistance, moisture management, and controlled stretch. The sleeves must support aerodynamic performance and stable compression. The underarms and side-waist areas require greater breathability.
For this reason, the Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series does not rely on a single fabric throughout. Instead, four functional materials are strategically combined in specific zones to create a system that responds dynamically to the rider’s movement and thermal needs.
Upper-Body Construction: Durability, Breathability, and Aerodynamic Control
Chest and Back Panels
The chest and back panels use selected fabrics to improve abrasion resistance and moisture-wicking performance.
These fabrics maintain an aerodynamic fit while providing sufficient stretch across the chest and torso. Whether the rider is holding a low aerodynamic position, riding out of the saddle, or maintaining a race posture for an extended period, the material moves naturally with the body and helps reduce restriction.
Structured Ribbed Sleeves
The sleeves use a three-dimensional ribbed aerodynamic fabric.
The structured surface is designed to guide airflow around the arms more effectively and reduce unnecessary aerodynamic disturbance. The material also improves arm compression and sleeve stability, helping the sleeves remain in position during high-speed riding and repeated arm movement.
Breathable Underarm and Side-Waist Panels
Breathable mesh panels extend from the underarms to the side waist to improve airflow and heat dissipation.
As the rider’s arms move, these areas naturally open and close, creating dynamic ventilation channels. This helps release excess heat during high-intensity effort and reduce moisture buildup beneath the arms and along the sides of the torso.
Lower-Body Fabric: Moisture Management, Durability, and Compression
The lower-body section is engineered to manage perspiration through a continuous process of absorption, transfer, and evaporation.
Moisture is drawn away from the skin, transferred to the outer layer of the fabric, and dispersed across a larger surface area to promote evaporation. This helps reduce the damp, sticky sensation that may develop after prolonged or high-intensity effort.
The fabric uses a high-gauge, high-density warp-knit construction composed of approximately:
- 80% polyamide
- 20% elastane
This construction combines stretch, muscular support, durability, and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for road training, long-distance riding, racing, and a wide range of cycling conditions.
Race-Fit Pattern Engineering: Designed Around Aerodynamics and the Riding Position
The Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series uses an exceptionally close race fit designed around aerodynamic principles and the cyclist’s riding position.
Three-dimensional pattern engineering allows the garment to fit the body more precisely when the rider is on the bike. This reduces excess fabric and minimizes folds that may appear acceptable while standing but become disruptive once the rider moves into an aerodynamic position.
The result is a lightweight, high-compression fit that reduces fabric flutter at speed and improves overall garment stability.
Because the fit is optimized for the riding position, the skinsuit may feel especially tight while standing. Once the rider adopts a normal cycling posture, however, the panels and seams align more naturally with the body’s movement.
Functional Details for Real-World Riding
Storage Pockets
The skinsuit includes practical storage pockets for a smartphone, energy gels, and other small riding essentials.
The pocket placement is designed to provide convenient access while maintaining stability and reducing unnecessary movement during the ride.
High-Visibility Reflective Branding
High-visibility reflective elements are integrated into the garment to improve rider visibility in low-light conditions.
When illuminated by vehicle headlights or other directional light sources, these reflective details create a more noticeable visual signal. They are especially useful during early-morning rides, evening returns, tunnel sections, and environments where lighting changes quickly.
One-Piece Construction: Reduced Waist Pressure and Garment Movement
During long rides, traditional two-piece cycling apparel can sometimes cause the jersey to ride up, fabric to bunch around the waist, or bib straps to create localized pressure.
The Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series uses a one-piece construction that creates a continuous support system across the torso and lower body, helping distribute pressure more evenly around the waist and back.
The skinsuit eliminates traditional shoulder straps, reducing localized shoulder pressure. Its integrated construction also helps prevent the upper section from riding up when the cyclist adopts a low or aggressive riding position.
This means fewer adjustments during the ride and greater focus on cadence, power output, and road conditions.
Continuous coverage across the waist and abdomen also reduces the possibility of cold air entering through the lower edge of the jersey at speed, helping maintain a more stable and comfortable body environment.
Recommended Riding Applications
The Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series is especially suitable for:
- Competitive cycling and race-day use
- Riders focused on aerodynamic efficiency
- High-intensity training and power-focused sessions

Ride with Greater Focus and Comfort
The value of professional cycling apparel extends far beyond appearance.
A well-designed skinsuit can reduce the small issues that distract riders during training or competition. There is less need to repeatedly adjust the jersey hem, reposition fabric around the waist, or manage shoulder-strap pressure. Even when the rider reaches forward into an aerodynamic position, the abdomen remains covered.
Even on long rides, the combination of zoned performance fabrics, gender-specific chamois designs, race-oriented pattern engineering, and one-piece construction provides consistent support.
When the garment no longer demands attention, the rider can focus more fully on speed, rhythm, road conditions, and the ride itself.
The Pro Cycling Skinsuit Series is designed to help every rider stay focused, ride efficiently, and enjoy every kilometer.
