LAMEDA SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAIN THE FUTURE

Ride with purpose, impact the world. Every LAMEDA garment is engineered to perform first and to tread lighter second. We work with recycled nylon, bio-based Sorona and recycled polyester so that lower impact never costs you speed, comfort or durability.

SUSTAINABILITY BEYOND MATERIALS

Fabric is only where it starts. The bicycle is already one of the lowest-impact ways to move, and the longer a garment stays in use, the more that advantage compounds. Sustainability at LAMEDA is about the whole ride.

LOW-CARBON MOVEMENT

EVERY RIDE REPLACES A DRIVE

The bicycle is already one of the lowest-impact ways to travel. Every commute, errand and training ride taken on two wheels instead of four is a direct reduction at the source — no offset required. Choosing to ride is the most immediate sustainable decision any of us make, and it happens before a single garment is involved.

RIDING CULTURE

A COMMUNITY THAT KEEPS RIDING

Habits outlast products. Local clubs, group rides, coaches and the shops that keep bikes on the road are what turn cycling from an occasional activity into a way of living. Supporting that culture keeps more people riding for longer — and that, over time, is the largest contribution any of us can make.

THREE MATERIAL ROUTES

We reduce impact at the fibre stage, where it matters most. Each route below is already in production across our current range.

CATEGORY 01

RECYCLED NYLON

81% Recycled Nylon + 19% Spandex / 72% Recycled Nylon + 28% Spandex

Recovered from discarded nylon waste such as fishing nets, end-of-life textiles and industrial plastics, then sorted, cleaned, re-pelletised and re-spun into new yarn. It keeps the mechanical strength and resilience of virgin nylon while cutting petroleum demand, water use and energy use in manufacturing.

CATEGORY 02

SORONA BIO-BASED

T400 SORONA — 100% Polyester, 80 gsm

Sorona uses plant-based feedstock such as corn sugar in place of a share of petroleum inputs, and its structure allows later recycling or reuse. The fabric is highly durable, resists stretching and creasing, and offers strong support with a soft hand.

CATEGORY 03

RECYCLED POLYESTER

50% Polyester + 50% Recycled Polyester / 60% Recycled Polyester

Produced from post-consumer PET bottle flake and spinning waste through re-chipping, drying, melting, filtration, depolymerisation and re-spinning. This lowers petroleum consumption and reduces the pollution load that conventional polyester production places on soil, groundwater and air.

MEASURED PRODUCT IMPACT

Carbon reduction calculated per style from verified yarn usage, fabric carbon factors and production volume. Figures below cover the styles we have fully audited to date.

Audited styles — carbon reduction by product
Product Material Eco yarn / unit (S) Carbon reduction CO2 saved
Freeze Windbreaker Sorona bio-based 64 g 63% 10,283 kg
Pulse Vest Sorona bio-based 24 g 63% 2,477 kg
Polar Night Fleece Long Sleeve Recycled nylon 282 g 50% 3,757 kg
Ripple Grace Long Sleeve Recycled nylon 148.5 g 50% 1,925 kg
Azure Flow Long Sleeve Recycled nylon 148.5 g 50% 987 kg
Summit Ride Short Sleeve Recycled nylon 124.8 g 50% 1,126 kg
Ripple Dream Short Sleeve Recycled nylon 124.8 g 50% 747 kg
Painting Short Sleeve Recycled polyester 104 g 71% 2,461 kg
Total audited CO2 reduction 23,763 kg

Reduction rates are supplier-verified against conventional equivalents: 63% for Sorona bio-based, 71% for recycled polyester and over 50% for recycled nylon. Yarn weights are stated for size S; larger sizes use proportionally more fabric. The audited total above is a subset of our overall reduction figure and continues to grow as more styles are assessed.

FROM WASTE TO WEARABLE

How discarded fishing nets, textile waste and industrial plastics become the recycled nylon in your jersey.

COLLECT & SORT

Discarded fishing nets, end-of-life textiles and industrial plastic waste are recovered and sorted by polymer type.

SHRED & CLEAN

Material is shredded and washed to remove contaminants, leaving a clean feedstock ready for reprocessing.

MELT & PELLETISE

The cleaned waste is melted and formed into pellets, restoring it to a usable polymer with its strength intact.

SPIN INTO YARN

Pellets are extruded and spun into recycled yarn, then knitted into the technical fabrics used across our range.

THE NUMBERS BEHIND THE FIBRE

Reference carbon factors we use in our calculations, so you can see exactly where the savings come from.

25.701 kg

CO2e per kg of conventional polyester filament fabric — the baseline our Sorona styles are measured against.

5.564 kg

CO2e per kg of nylon 66 industrial yarn — the baseline for our recycled nylon styles.

0.537 kg

CO2e per kg of recycled polyester staple fibre, against 23.98 kg for a kilogram of dyed woven cotton.

47 kg

CO2 released by a single pair of conventional 400 g polyester trousers — the scale of impact we design against.

Carbon footprint factors are expressed as kg CO2 equivalent per kilogram of material and are drawn from supplier and industry lifecycle data.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS

Pieces built with recycled and bio-based fabrics, engineered to the same performance standard as the rest of the range.

PROGRESS BEYOND PERFORMANCE

Sustainability at LAMEDA is a measurement discipline, not a marketing claim. We publish what we have audited and keep extending the scope season by season.
